JONESBORO — Morrow High School swept the Clayton County Cross Country Championships Thursday night at Clayton County International Park.

The girls program just edged out Mount Zion to claim the county title. Both Morrow and Mount Zion finished with 43 total points, but the Lady Mustangs’ total time was 13 seconds faster.

Morrow was led by Taylor Jones, Ada’Ya Alexander and Jaelyn Callaway, who each finished in the top 10. Jones was fourth with a time of 20:05.08, Alexander was sixth with a time of 21:14.55 and Callaway placed eighth with a time of 21:19.86.

In the boys meet, Morrow cruised to victory with 41 total points, besting second place Forest Park’s 55 points.

The Mustangs saw four runners finish in the top 10, led by Christia’n Jarvis’ fifth-place time of 16:17.45. Gabriel Peacock followed in seventh place with a time of 16:38.63. Mike Prieto and Phong Nguyen finished ninth and 10 with respective times of 16:52.37 and 16:52.63.
