JONESBORO — The 2017 Clayton County Cross Country Championships were held Tuesday at the Clayton County International Beach in Jonesboro. Morrow swept the event, claiming both the girls and boys championships.
Morrow came in first place as a team with a total time of 1:53 and an average time of 22:39. Taylor Jones led the way with a first-place finish to claim an individual county title. She finished with a time of 21:36.82. She was joined in the top 10 by Yaribeth Cortes (third, 21:58.95) and Laura Peacock (seventh, 22:50.52), while Jaelyn Callaway (12th, 23:18.13) and Jaiana Jackson (13th, 23:32.17) also contributed for the Lady Mustangs.
Morrow’s boys also came away with a county title, finishing with a total time of 1:29.58 and an average time of 17:59. Gabriel Peacock led the Mustangs with a third-place finish for a time of 17:01.99, while Christia’n Jarvis came in fourth with a time of 17:10.84. Phong Nguyen (13th, 18:35.99), Steven Luu (14th, 18:36), Adrian Vela Garcia (16th, 18:39.48) and Kristen Bradley (19th, 18:46.39) all finished in the top 20 for Morrow.
